Flex guide
One chart, used everywhere on this site and inside ATOM AI. Driver clubhead speed is the starting point; tempo, transition and the player's miss move the final call. A launch-monitor fitting confirms.
| Driver speed | Start with | ATOM builds |
|---|---|---|
| Under 85 mph | Regular (R) | Blue 4R, Blue 5R |
| 85–95 mph | Stiff Regular (SR) or Stiff (S) | Blue 4S, Blue 5S, Blue 6SR, Blue 6S, Black 5S, Black 6S |

Guide values; confirm on a launch monitor. Black is offered in S, X, TX; Blue in R, SR, S, X, XX, plus Multi-Flex (G).
Install & tipping
Tip section & trimming
- Parallel tip, published at 0.337" ±0.002" (8.55 ±0.05 mm). Dry-fit the adapter before epoxy, as with any parallel-tip install.
- Tip trimming stiffens the tip section; each 0.5" step is available on the custom-build service. A per-club trim chart (driver / 3W / 5W / hybrid) is pending manufacturer confirmation — until then, do not exceed 1.0" of tip trim.
- Available tipping steps on the Attomax build service: 0.0" · 0.5" · 1.0".
- Raw length 46.0" (1168 mm); butt diameter 0.598"–0.626" (15.2–15.9 mm) by build. Playing-length reductions offered on the build service: -1/2", -1", -1.5" from standard.
Prep & finish
- Abrade the tip lightly for epoxy adhesion only — do not sand through the outer fibres or reduce the tip diameter to force a fit. Fibre damage in the tip section is excluded from warranty.
- Use a shaft clamp at the butt; never clamp on graphics or the tip section.
- Logo up or logo down at address are both sanctioned builds; the custom-build service offers either.
- Warranty terms for installed shafts: see Warranty & Refund.
Adapter compatibility
Parallel-tip adapters (ATOM tip 0.337" / 8.55 mm). The Attomax build service currently installs sleeves for:
- Callaway
- Cleveland
- Cobra
- Mizuno
- Ping
- PXG
- Srixon
- TaylorMade
- Titleist
- Wilson
Other OEM sleeves install the same way; if a bore or sleeve gives you trouble, email help@attomaxpro.com with the head and we will confirm.
Spec sheet FAQ
What tip diameter and length do ATOM shafts have?
Every ATOM shaft ships raw at 46.0" (1168 mm) with a parallel tip section published at 0.337" ±0.002" (8.55 ±0.05 mm). Butt diameters run 0.598"–0.626" (15.2–15.9 mm) depending on the build.
How much can I tip-trim an ATOM shaft?
Tip trimming stiffens the tip section; each 0.5" step is available on the custom-build service. A per-club trim chart (driver / 3W / 5W / hybrid) is pending manufacturer confirmation — until then, do not exceed 1.0" of tip trim.
Which flex should I fit for a given swing speed?
Under 85 mph = Regular (R); 85–95 mph = Stiff Regular (SR) or Stiff (S); 95–105 mph = Stiff (S) or Extra Stiff (X); 105+ mph = Extra Stiff (X) or Tour Extra Stiff (TX / XX). This is a guide; confirm on a launch monitor. ATOM Blue is offered in R, SR, S, X, XX, plus Multi-Flex (G), ATOM Black in S, X, TX.
Do you publish CPM, balance point or EI profiles?
Not on this page yet. The tech sheet with frequency (clamp and length stated), balance point and profile data is available to fitters on request from help@attomaxpro.com.
What is the difference between XX and TX?
None — XX and TX are the same designation (Tour Extra Stiff). ATOM Blue tour builds are catalogued as 6XX and 7XX; ATOM Black as 6TX and 7TX.
What is the difference between ATOM Blue and ATOM Black?
ATOM Blue is mid launch, mid spin with a mid kick point (4G is Mid-High): 46–74g, 2.8°–4.5° torque, offered in R, SR, S, X, XX, plus Multi-Flex (G). ATOM Black is low launch, low spin with a mid-high kick point: 54–74g, 2.6°–3.5° torque, offered in S, X, TX. Both share the same materials and build standard; choose by the flight you want to see, then let speed and tempo set flex and weight.
What is ATOM Black TS (Tour Spec)?
ATOM Black TS is the Tour Spec (Tour Issue) build of the ATOM Black, offered as TS 6X and TS 7X in Extra Stiff (X) and supplied through authorized fitters. Its weight, torque and dimensions are not published on this page (the table shows "—"); they are on the ATOM Black TS tech sheet, available on request from the fitting team.
